The fabric is used exclusively to make decorative furniture. Strictly speaking, you do not need it to progress in terraformation. However, it makes your base look a little better.

Keep in mind that the anticipated access version of The artisan of the planet does not allow you to create fabric, be careful not to destroy it! However, you can always disassemble any furniture to recover it if you need it.

Where to find fabric in The planet craftsman

Fabric on the planet craftsman can be found in abandoned buildings, starry boats and storage chests around the world. If you want to loot some Fabric, you can find specific locations (along with a lot of other items) on our map and location guide.

Strangely, Fabric seems to be an unusually rare resource; I still have not discovered a way to create it (and I have unlocked almost everything in the early access version of the game).

On the positive side, Fabric is only used really to manufacture decorative items as furniture; The various beds and chairs you can do yet do not seem to have any purpose in the game. Unfortunately, the general lack of fabric in the game (and the inability to create it) means that you can only make a limited amount of these furniture. While it can deconstruct existing furniture to recover the fabric, it is still somewhat limited, and that means it will not open an extraterrestrial furniture store in the short term.
