Steam Deck 2 is already being developed by Valve
It is possible that Valve has launched its new Hardware Steam Deck a little over a week ago, but it seems that the Game Company is already working on the second revision of the platform. Yes, Steam Deck 2, in the absence of a better name at this time, it is something that Valve's mandamás has confirmed that the corporation is investigating. And although it remains to see how far in the future there will be a successor by Steam Deck, this idea in a general sense is something that Valve apparently has always considered.
In a new conversation with a magazine edge, the head of Valve, Gabe Newell, openly confirmed that he is investigating the development of Steam Deck 2. Oh, yes. Much, "Newell said about the idea. He continued to explain that Valve's main concern with Steam Deck initially was that it would be too expensive. However, the price of the platform has not been a problem for consumers. until now.
"We think that the entry price was to be the critical factor [for Deck's Success] but it turns out that, by far, the most popular SKU is the most expensive," Newell said. "That is an example that we are a bit surprised by what our clients tell us. Basically they are saying: 'We would like an even more expensive version of this', in terms of power capacity or whatever. You know, that's why we always love to get something out and send it. Because we learn a lot about that and helps to frame our thinking for Steam Deck 2 ».
So, what could Steam Deck 2 offer that does not have the current model? Well, according to Newell, a thing that Valve is investigating is to add VR support to the platform. While this feature is something that Steam Deck existing can not carry out, Newell believes that a successor could allow users to connect their VR headphones to the device to play virtual reality games.
What do you think about that Valve is already it about future ideas for Steam Deck? And have you been able to put your hands on the platform for yourself? Let me know in the comments or send me a message on Twitter a @ mooreman12.
