Streamer realizes the dream of an entire community playing Yu Gi Oh with holograms
This Sunday a streamer revealed to the public a long-term project and a real childhood dream come true. Populous , INAMI's partner, presented us last night the result of seven months of work to ing to life the letters of Yu-Gi-Oh , as well as in the anime.
A table connected and holograms
Started in March 2022 after a concert, the Populous project is simple: create a Yu-Gi-Oh table that would allow it to display the cards that puts on the field, in 3D holographic exactly as in the anime.
The result is impressive and did not cease to make a feeling even internationally. A clip of the night where Populous summons a white dragon of blue-eyes reached more than 200,000 views in a matter of hours and ended up Trend in Reddit , while congratulations messages circulated on social media and YouTube.
But how does it work?
Players put their monster that is displayed in 2D at the top of the screen to allow viewers to read their effects and statistics before changing the camera to enjoy a 3D plane of the creature . It can then attack, still in 3D, with a simple touch on Stream deck and eliminate opposite holograms.
Everything is done mainly through the Plato stream tools, which also congratulated the streamer on Twitter after the revelation. At the moment, 30 decks are playable using the table that already represents a sufficient number of cards so as not to get tired very quickly.
Each new addition requires a lot of work that involves handling new cards and scanning them. Populous has taken several dozen hours to prepare these 30 decks, but still does not exclude the possibility of adding more later.
At the moment, no information was given about a possible distribution of this material, but as the success of the holograms was considerable, that would not be so unlikely.
