Lol: Riot advances a change of format in LEC to imitate the best leagues in the world
The maximum European competition of League of Legends prepares for what could be the best year in its history. Not only is it about some real elite clubs in Europe promise to refresh the competition for the next 2023, if not a possible change of format for LEC with which Riot Games already begins to play on social networks. Improves both for spectators and clubs whose main pillar will be the arrival in the continent of the confrontations to the best of three games, which had never had too much prominence in the competition.
A change that will match LEC with the big world leagues
Riot Games has not yet confirmed or denied format changes for LEC that were revealed in different leaks. However, from the official account of the maximum European competition of League of Legends they have published a tweet with the phrase Does anyone say better of three?. Obviously, this is not a confirmation. However, the sum of previous informative advances with the context of creating Hype and Marque tin by social networks points to a great announcement related to the increase in maps in the matches.
The format of games to the best of three maps will allow large teams to take more filming and help to match the European Legends League of Legends with the most successful leagues worldwide. In fact, Riot Games could bet on replicating the usual model in Asia (China, South Korea and Vietnam) in which regular phase clashes are disputed in this format. However, this idea gives rise to some problems when making broadcast. For example, in South Korea there are games five days a week instead of the two or three that are dedicated to the great European tournament. It is difficult to replicate in the continent due to the structure of regional competitions and the least engagement with the public.
The second alternative, which seems more plausible, is revealed in leaks on the change of LEC format. In it, Riot Games would bet on a complete change to the competitive system. The regular phase of the competition, still to the best of one, would be played over three weeks. It would be in a second round in which the eight best teams of the first phase would be divided into two groups of four when the best of three would enter. In this way, it is possible to carry out the retransmissions without 'stepping on the rest of European competitions and maintaining the current schedule would be much easier.
